The TLIC4006 Drive multi-combination vehicle is the latest nationally accredited unit involving the skills and knowledge required to drive a multi-combination vehicle safely, including maintaining systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions, coupling and uncoupling dollies, monitoring traffic, and road conditions, managing vehicle condition and performance, and effectively managing hazardous situations. This unit is perfect for learners who are:
- Drivers aged 21 years or older with a valid Class C licence held for at least three years and a valid HR or HC licence for at least one year, aiming to upgrade their licence to operate multi-combination (MC) vehicles, in compliance with WA licencing standards.
- Operators based in WA who plan to operate heavy combination units towing wo or more trailers, each with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) greater than 9,000 kg, aligning with the WA Department of Transport’s guidelines.
- Transport and logistic professionals seeking formal certification required by WA regulations to progress into advanced driving roles involving multi-combination vehicles, thereby expanding employment and career advancement opportunities.
- Sponsored professionals in logistics and transportation industries, upgrading their skills and obtaining necessary licencing credentials to comply with state regulatory requirements and workplace needs within WA.
How is the course delivered?
Training is delivered via Blended delivery (online distance + face to face).
Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed up to 3 days (including holidays). Duration will depend on the previous experience:
Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend approximately 08-20 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?
This course is designed to develop your expertise in transport and logistics. Among others, you will learn to:
- maintaining systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions
- coupling and uncoupling dollies
- monitor traffic and road conditions
- manage vehicle condition and performance
- effectively manage hazardous situations
How is the course structured?
All learners will be assessed through:
- Documentation (e.g. Hazard Report, Faulty Equipment Report, Vehicle Records, etc.)
- Practical skills demonstration assessments
- Questioning – written or verbal
What are the entry requirements?
Students must:
- Be 21 years of age and over
- Have basic computer skills
- Have sound Language, Literacy, and Numeracy skills
- Complete Form E114 – PDA Customer Eligibility Form
- Undergo eye test (Better eye at least 6/9, worse eye at least 6/18)
- Have good general health and fitness for practicals
- Have the following:
- A valid Class C licence for at least 3 years, and
- A valid HR/HC licence for at least 1 year
*Learners who do not meet the LLN requirements may still enrol into the course provided the enrolment has been endorsed by the trainer and corresponding additional support strategies have been put in place.
What are the resources needed to complete the course?
To support you in your new course with WA Safe Driver Training, we will provide the following:
- Reading Materials and Assessment Workbook
- Computers
- Multi-combination vehicle
- Others:
- A range of relevant exercises, case studies, and/or simulations
- Relevant materials, tools, equipment, and PPE current used in the industry
- Applicable documentation, including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals
To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:
- Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Internet access preferably through Google Chrome
- MS Word and Powerpoint
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
What are the course fees?
The TLIC4006 Drive multi-combination vehicle course fees may vary depending on the type of vehicle:
Multi-combination vehicle A = $2,600.00
- Initial deposit of $1,300.00 upon enrollment
- Then $1,300 to be paid before certificate issuance
